As you read this my desk will be clear and this is my first attempt at a scheduled post. What you see is my workspace yesterday, before I had to clear it all away to set the table for dinner. That's one of the disadvantages to living in a small house as we can't eat in the conservatory at this time of year so I have to share my crafting space - well it is actually on our dining room table.
So what can you see apart from my trusty Distress Inks? I spy steampunk.
My new Darkroom door set of stamps arrived on Monday from LB Crafts. Unfortunately the company is closing down and there is a sale on. These stamps were 25% off so of course I had to have them, and any company that sells stamps in a tin is OK by me. Already putting them to good use as you can just see an ATC peeping out from under the tin. It is for a swap and is the first ATC I have made for almost a year - went right off them for a time.
Bottom of the photo is my button tin which I am altering. Saw a great tutorial on You-Tube by Rachel of Artful Evidence where she used texture paste to alter a bottle embedding Fimo faces in the paste before colouring - fantastic - so I am having a go. The button tin started out filled with Grasmere Gingerbread (long since transferred into my tum) and the lid is embossed metal so it needs evening out so this technique (if it works) is just what I've been looking for. Knowing my luck all the buttons I have embedded into the paste will fall out and I will have to try cunning plan number 2 (when I think it up that is).
Here's a closer look at the tin lid.
Haven't used any of my 'treasures', just lots of different sized plastic buttons - I quite like the pastel colours but am intent on altering them and jazzing the whole thing up.
It's my stamp club meeting on Saturday and I will be taking along the spindle Neet gave me to alter, and boy is it altered. Here's a sneek peek.....
Ha, ha, bit blurry isn't it - well I can't give the game away before Saturday but as you can see it is painted and that is all I'm saying.
All I have to remember to do now is link to my post from the fabulous Julia's worldwide desk hop over at The Stamping Ground - why not join us?
Update - Wednesday am
Obviously did something wrong as the scheduling bit didn't work - must try harder.

A creative ubtidy desk is so much more interesting than a tidy one - so "YAY!" for posting an earlier photograph :)
Tins full of buttons remind so much of my Nanny Lee... the sound and the feel of buttons in a tin is so wonderful! Love your altered tin so far - it's going to be great when it's all finished!
Have a wonderful and productive WOYWW!

Scheduling..you have to be brave - change the date and time to that which suits you, click DOne...THEN be brave and click PUBLISH...it will then show as scheduled in your list of posts..try that.
You're very busy Ann- got lots on the simmer - I like the buttons idea, but if you don't use the treasures on this, what will you use them on? Ah, maybe make one for yourself covered in the treasures...top plan, I think I like the colours on the altered spindle!
Oh, I LOVE buttons tins!! Like Bubbles above, it reminds me of childhood. I want to get my hands in there and play with them!!
Re scheduling of the post. I had trouble at first. Go into Settings on your dashboard and check that your time is set to UK GMT, that was wrong with mine...
Hugs, LLJ xx

Great altered tin. Off to look at that Youtube video! Happy WOYWW, Shoshi #67
Hello Ann, your altered tin is lovely ... a pleasure to look at and still practical. I've been catching up on your posts and love the before and after shots of Sorrel - so cute. The altered notebook covers are fab - love Graphic 45 papers - but I can imagine that it was a bit of a faff removing the wire binding. Have a great crafting week. Elizabeth x #59
The one thing I wanted to inherit more than anything from my Grandma was her button tin and I did, a treasured item in my home. The altered notebook covers are wonderful! Happy WOYWW #93 ~Robin Panzer Art Studio 33
That button tin lid is looking gorgeous and I am sure, well pretty sure, that the buttons won't be popping off!
Personally I think dining room tables are not for eating on, but thats just me. LOL

Ooo you've been busy. The button lid looks like a yummy iced cake with sweeties on. As for your spindle, I finished mine this evening but mine's varnished. I may upload a sneaky peeky.....See you Saturday, x
Just on the cadge... do you have a gallon can of alcohol ink spare to decorate my metal table top when it arrives? Heh! Heh! Wonder ow much it would take for a 4 foot circle of metal?
See you Saturday,
Love jo x

Another one here who loves tins of buttons. My Granny was a seamstress and I always loved playing with hers.
