What's on Your Workspace Wednesday - 138

Well, I know what's on my desk this week - a bit of a mess.

Have had the paints out again getting another of my journal pages ready and how much mess can a couple of bottles of acrylic make?  Don't answer that - I already know, a lot!

Also in this week's photo is yarn for a baby blanket I have just started knitting for a friend.  The pattern is an American one off the internet so I wanted to have a practice using some left-over purple and green wool, the cream yarn at the back is the 'proper' yarn and I started on it after taking the photo yesterday afternoon.

Here's a closer look at the background on my journal page - gesso, green and blue paints and a flourish stamp.  The piece on top is an ATC background made with acrylics and pearl dabber - nice texture.

Not been a very good week as I spent a good few hours searching for the Japanese silk fabric I got at Christmas.  I turned the room upside down, not too mention my ribbon box, stamp storage, craft tote (twice) and every drawer in the room. Very upset as I had convinced myself I had thrown the package out when I had the big 'tidy' after New Year - always knew tidying was a bad move and thought this was the proof.

Luck turned for the better when I had one last go at the ribbon box yesterday and found the package tucked away in the middle of some more fabrics- phew!!!  Still have to decide what I'm going to do with it but whatever it is it will have to be good after all that stress.

Didn't get round to everyone's desk over at The Stamping Ground last week but intend to do better this week and see what everyone else is up to.

Your journal is coming along so beautifully. We'll get our workshop planned soon as D has his date and I've booked for me to go to Germany.
Everyone seems to have turned to knitting!
BTW I've had my print tray ages and started it before TH ever did configurations. Got as far as you can see when he showed his and it put me off as I thought that everyone would would think I'd copied from him.
Love JoZarty x

You're brave having knitting and painting on the same desk. If that was me, there'd inevitably be a huge messy mix up by the end!!
BTW, re my post - if crunching ice makes you think of gin and tonic, then we're kindred spirits, girlfriend!! Cheers....

Love the look of your journal page, Ann - that kind of messy, painty stuff is such fun to do! It looks like that baby blanket might be a bit of a challenge but very rewarding to do!

I too spend a lot of time looking for things. Glad you found your fabric. Your journal looks so great! I don't think I have the patience to do the layer of Gesso etc. etc. Your page is almost too pretty to write on. I guess it could be a study in design...a whole book of pretty pages. I like that idea!

Oh, I so know that feeling of panic when something can't be found ... happens to me all the time and, like you, I can convince myself that I've thrown the much wanted item out, lots of mental kicking at that. Glad you found your fabric finally. No mention of Sorrel this week so can I assume she is well again. Hope your week is a good one. Elizabeth x #47

Oh that is such a familiar tale - I spent ages looking for some fabric that I had put in a "safe place" last week!! Thanks for the ideas for my leather scraps - I think I will try some embroidered cuffs and a couple of brooches. I would love a pic of the one you mentioned. (twiglet517@hotmail.co.uk)! Have a good week. x Jo

Yes Sorrel is fully fit, if a bit mucky as it is very muddy on her usual walks.

Great texture on that ATC indeed! The journal page looks fabulous--nice spring colors. I just hate that when I can't find something and I suspect I've thrown it out accidentally. Ugh. I'm glad you found it!

Gorgeous paint effects there, Ann - love the colours and textures. I want to do more acrylics and mixed media this year, and at the same time get to grips with Sheba, my new Black Cat Cougar cutter!! Thanks for visiting my blog and for your kind comment - I'm feeling a lot better today and hoping it will last long enough for me to take advantage of it - lots of creative ideas whirling around that are crying out to be put into practice!

Hi Ann - thanks so much for calling by! Try spilling a bottle of acrylic paint on your desk - now that's what I call a mess. I should know 'cos I did it! Super work - good luck with the knitting too :) Di xx Oh, for Rudolph Day you can make a card and link up here http://stampingforpleasure.blogspot.com/

Could be worth thinking about!

Love that journal page, my favourite colours are on it. Great knitting too, but I'm quite slow and don't know if I would finish something like that. I think that's one of the reasons socks appeal, because they're quite small projects, so not much danger of too many UFO's! Glad you found the new fabric.

Smiling, I am glad someone else has a "Finding It' problem !!!
I get so irritated at myself wasting time locating something I put away. Glad your hunt is over. I love ATC's and like the effect you have on this with the gesso, great colors. Have a great week.

So glad you found your goodies - it would have been awful to have lost those. Look forward to seeing what you wanted to find it for.
What's all this obsession with knitting with the VS girls? Mind you, I have to say the blanket looks beautiful.
Hope you and yours (esp. Sorrel) are well.
Thanks for commenting on my blog Ann - sorry I am so late but lots of friends keep coming to see me and then tonight I did an English Dinner with real potatoes (the peel them kind). Hugs, Neet #6

I agree that cleaning up is a bad idea! I'm glad you found your silks!

Also, for your question about my calendar - I decorated the front of the divider, so if I turn it, I won't see my decoration! Oh well, I've decided that it adds character! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog :)

Happy WOYWW (on Thursday!)

Oh my. I'm knitting a baby blanket too! I'm just using the seed stitch so it's coming along nicely. I have two friends having babies (one in May and the other in June).

The yarn you are making your sample out of is beautiful, as is the cream in the background. Very nice. I also love your journal page that you've done. Love the color combination.

I signed up as a follower (I hope you don't mind)!

Hugs,
Kay
