What's on Your Workspace Wednesday 142

Wednesday again and spring is on the way as are longer days and better light, and my crocus (croci??), not to mention all the other WOYWWers desks to have a nosy at over at Julia's Stamping Ground.

So lots to be happy about and lots of different things on the go this week for me - so what's new there - journalling, paper engineering, knitting and prep work for my altered book with Elizabeth of Bluebeard and Elizabeth fame.  Enough words, here's the photo.

Top left is my blog candy win from Neet in the Tim Holtz signed bag, a whole heap of goodies to play with and a very generous give-away.  (As an aside see my side-bar for details of my blog candy give-away, or the previous post). Top right is the inside of the suitcase I made a few weeks ago - lid finished, more or less, on Sunday and I started the mini album for inside.

Here's a closer look.

Moving round clockwise, next is my book ready for the altering class, it only cost me 50p at the charity shop.  Seems a shame to alter it but I struggled finding a book with stitched signatures.  Plan to start removing the pages tomorrow so keep you fingers crossed I don't fluff it or I will be in big doo doo.

Next round is my current knitting.  Jozarty sent me the pattern for her scarf/shawls and I bought the yarn on Monday and dived straight in.  Then disaster struck and the end fell off my needle (why does that sound a bit rude?). Trusty Tim Holtz rode to the rescue with his glossy accents and my button box to make this repair.

Love the colours but I think the yarn I bought is a bit thicker than the one Jo uses - still will keep me nice and warm if the weather turns cooler.

The other knitting on my desk is a baby shawl I made for a forum friend.  It's done in a chenille yarn and the pattern is only three rows so it knitted up quite quickly.  All done now and wrapped ready for a trip to the Post Office today.

Last on is a new page in my art journal. I swirled three colours of acrylics round with my fingers and blotted with kitchen roll before adding touches of the blue and blotting.  When I finished it reminded me of some stones I collected from the beach on Jersey some 25 years ago.

Here's the page...

and here's the stone...

Anyway, enough of me rabbiting on for today by the time you read this I will be journeying around the world's craft desks - managed to get round to everyone last week and left comments on over half of the blogs. lets see if I can do the same this week.

Happy WOYWW to everyone and thanks Julia for your stunning idea of a desk hop.

Thanks for mentioning my AB Class. You are the PERFECT student!! I know you will make that book famous when you are finished.

I haven't knitted or crocheted in years. I can't since my hands are so arthritic. But I like those colors and I can only imagine how warm it will be when finished.

Thanks again for the visit. Yep, I was about 90 numbers off this week at #9!

You had lots to share with us this week Ann. Thanks. That baby shawl looks beautiful, maybe we should have seen it opened out but I love how you tied it up.
Envious of your suitcase - mine is nowhere near at your stage and with going away in a week's time I doubt it ever will be.
Just so much going on here and thanks again for sharing and now off to sign up for BC.Hugs, Neet xx

What a delightful busy desk...I like a busy desk as I can't do one thing for too long or I get bored with it!

You must be a fab knitter...that little baby shawl looks nice and I'm sure will be greatly appreciated.

You will have to keep us posted and pics on the shawl for yourself.

Lots of goodies going on there. Love the baby shawl and the colours of your scarf. You may find you need more yarn if it's thicker but it will keep you cosy. Great to see you Sunday and congrats on getting the mystery item correct! I'll probably post out your gift if it's not too heavy.

Hi Ann, great post this week ... so much to see. I, too, had problems find a book that was stitched and I've still to pluck up the necessary courage to tear pages out of the one I've chosen to alter ... will get there, but it could take some time :) Congratulations on your wins - how did you guess Jo's mystery item was a hemming bird :) Have a great week. I too have quite a few special stones and alway pick up round ones and those with holes in them. I used to set my DDs on quests to find... the roundest, the thinnest, the reddest, the whitest etc., when out and about or on the beach. A devils toenail is a fossil of a worn ammonite or oyster which legend says has powers.

I'm curious about the altered book. Is it going to be a class?

Ann that's all just gorgeous... I love your page and the beautiful stone, and your altered suitcase. My mum recently gave me a little old leather case that she used to use to carry her party shoes. I was wondering what to do with it and thought it would be fun to alter - I don't really want to change the outside too much but perhaps the inside? I must think some more on this, and yours has certainly inspired me!

Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog. I'm so glad you like my finished butterfly project. I gave it to my sister today and she was really thrilled with it which was great! Makes it all worth while!!

happy WOYWW, Shoshi #19

Hello Ann, I couldn't play woyww this week due to my blogger problems (all now resolved, fingers crossed!). Congrats on winning the blog candy - ooooh Tim Holtz signature! Did you see him on QVC this week - sooooo expensive, but worth it (I hope!). Your little suitcase looks fab - and your journal page - how funny it matches your stone - and you've had it for all those years!

Thanks for your visit to my blog today - oh yes, Sari Ribbon is a must have, I love it - and it comes it so many different colours.

Have a lovely day - sun is shining here at the moment, I've even got the washing out to dry! xx

You were SO quick on the draw yesterday, Ann. Sadly, I started a post that was supposed to go into draft, but I saved and published it without even checking the date, something I normally do at least four or five times before I either draft or schedule it. I was up too late, back up too early, or maybe it was Bleubeard's fault. Any excuse I can find will be the one I'll stick with. What I know is, I deleted it before it could go viral (grin).
