WOYWW 220

Getting back into the habit of sharing my mucky desk/table each week along with all the other WOYWWyers courtesy of Julia over at the Stamping Ground.  Not as much to see this week though.

As I'm back in the crafting groove I dug out my art journal and had a play yesterday.  I subscribe to Donna Downey's YouTube Inspiration Wednesdays and this week she used acrylic paint and swirled the colours with her finger.  Sounded good to me, nothing like getting messy with pain so out came the cheap acrylics for a little practice.
Of course it doesn't look anything like hers but I the swirly bits on the right reminded me of roses so I added a few stems.  The left hand page was a complete disaster so I smoothed the paint off and made some patterns by dipping a flat brush in two colours of paint and twirling it round.  Just playing but having fun as well and it's good to play with no intention of making anything or going anywhere in particular.

The box on the left of my desk has just had a coat of white gesso while I decide what to do with it-  a shadow box that I want to do for my niece's birthday.  Whatever I do will involve paint, inks, papers and possibly flowers, that's if I didn't clear them all out in my last big tidy.  (How come whenever you decide to tidy and throw out something that has been taking up houseroom for years you suddenly have a 'good idea' and regret throwing it away?)

Anyway, it is good to be back for the second week on the trot. Happy Wednesday blogging buddies.

Just realised this is the second week my desk has hosted a cup of unappetising liquid.  Looks like tea this week but it is my brush washing cup - last week looked like yuk (which it was ha ha).

I think Donna Downey is a hoot! And you are so right, finger painting is just fun. And from another perspective you really can't get the same effect from a brush so it's all good. And I SO understand about cleaning up and then wishing you had something. Must be some law of something. LOL. Good luck with your shadow box and have a great week.

Don't worry about the iPad glitch, I do all my desk surfing on my PC where I have a proper keyboard as I hate the iPad's screen one. Love your journal and I also subscribe to the same inspiration, not that I have done any for a while...maybe after Sunday's market. #46

Oh paint! I too have been exploring blogs and wanting to try techniques. You will see I did in fact break down and buy the paints today. Cheap ones, but still gives me some chance of working with them. Kim #52

As long as you don't mix up your brush washing cup with you coffee cup. Not a pleasant experience! Thanks for your kind comments on my cards x

I thought you actually dropped a paint brush in your cup of tea how funny is that? I really like your swirls with the brush, two brilliant journal pages.

Oh, I recognised THAT situation...regretting chucking something when you realise you need it so badly for another project! Been there, done that, got the t shirt!
Love the finger painting...sometimes it's good just to have fun for no reason at all!

I wish I had a pound for every occasion that I wished I hadn't thrown something away! It always happens doesn't it - that's why I am a bit of a squirrel and hoard all sorts of stuff these days. x Jo

Hi Ann, that cup does look like tea from where I'm sitting. I've just discovered the joys of getting messy with acrylic paint so finger painting sounds like fun. Oh, and I can't tell you how many times I have tossed something only to wish I hadn't ... decluttering is all very well, but it does occasionally have its downside :) Hope you have a good week.
