WOYWW 221

Every week that I join in Julia's amazing desk journey/snoop I see all these fantastically tidy desks and if there is such a thing as re-incarnation then next time that will be me - TIDY CRAFTER!  Well that's my aim but more my luck to come back as a cockroach.  Not that I have anything against cockroaches, all God's creatures so entitled to be here, just not in my eyesight please, I would rather have pretty butterflies flittering here and there splashing a bit of paint around.....

Enough rambling, you want to see my desk, or I hope you do, so here it is.

It's been like this since Sunday afternoon, when I get stuck, a frequent thing, just shut the door and walk away for a couple of days.  Keep creeping back in hoping to find a bit of inspiration or, fingers crossed, that the craft fairies will have been in overnight to help, no such luck.

I'm trying to do a shadowbox thingy (technical term) for my Great-Niece's birthday on the 15th.  Always make the two girls something, even though they are 26 and 22 next birthdays.  Emma loves green and brown so I started there spraying flowers, painting, cutting and alcohol inking metal charms.  Not quite sure which direction this will take so I had a play around 'arranging' (very loose term) the bits in the frame.

Think the hand will have to go, and the background needs some colour, and I need some texture, and a bit more lime green at the top, and maybe the picture needs to be a little bigger, but apart from that.....

Have to get it finished this week as we are away next week, taking the campervan to Lincolnshire, Andy will be trying to get me to go to all the old Second World War airfields and I will be trying to find craft shops so lots of fun all round.

Happy WOYWW, see you on the tour.

You will work out what to do with those shadow boxes - you always come up with something lovely for the girls. Do agree the background needs colour and I might be tempted to change the lime green flowers and put some smaller ones in. Hope you don't mind me saying that.
Stand back and look at it from a distance - I always find that works when I am stuck.
Enjoy your holiday and good luck with the shop hunting!
Hugs, Neet 25 xx (thanks for visiting me)

The shadow box is coming on nicely, like your suggestions of colour on the background. Yep funny having the same paint bottle on our desks - LOL. I know why my desk is usually tidy - I can't shut the door and leave it for days as I sleep in the same room! Thanks for popping by BJ#6

Hi Ann your shadow box is coming along nicely, I find that if I play around with the arrangement leave it then come back and look again, two or three times rather than sitting there continuous always helps. As Neet says look at it from a distance as it looks so different then. Please post it when its finished, I would love to see it. Hugs Mo x

I can spend so much time just rearranging the bits. But I think it will be worth the work ... composition is very important. Your shadow box is already looking fab.

I think your shadow box is fab. She is so going to love it. I like the hand, but then I love hands and pointing fingers :) Maybe if you put a big blue flower behind it you would feel different about it? That might also help with the "background" colour IYKWIM. Bt I like it as it is as well :)

Happy WOYWW!

Loving your thought process Ann, and I'm the same..back away from the desk and see if something happens in the distance between it and me - I think your shadow box is showing great inspiration already. Love the colours. As for the tidy fairy...hmm, I obviously don't believe ENOUGH!!

I don't have a tidy fairy either...pity, but there we are. Like the box - like the ideas for changing it a little. Trust you will soon arrive where you want to be with it.
Yes, sometimes it is good to step away, do something completely different, then go back.
Have a productive, creative week.

I know whatever you come up with, the shadowbox will be beautiful and perfect for each of the girls.

Have fun on your trip. I would LOVE to visit those WWII airfields. It would probably bring history alive to me. After all, I have enough craft supplies, but never get enough history (grin).

Thanks for visiting me already and also for your previous visits from last week.

Hello, I am sending this to everyone. Im sorry I am not going to be able to get to all the desk and I have now lost my sheet of paper that I was writing them down on. I don't think my cat is going to make it through the night to even see the vet. She is old just like my dog so I guess they are going to get sick at the same time or so. I just going to copy and paste and sorry to every one that I didn't get to read.. I just cant do it right now. Thank you Roberta 40 and bright blessings to all.

I love the colours you've chosen for the shadow box, really bright and cheerful. I bet she'll love it. We're in the process of putting our campervan to bed for the rest of the year now that all the festivals are over. Hugs. Pam#36

LOL at the tidy fairy... maybe you need a fairy door so she can actually get it and tidy? ;) Love your shadow box so far and I would keep the hand, it looks great! Yes to a background colour too...Annette #9
